Sioux Center residents can now see how they use utilities throughout the day. Sioux Center Municipal Utilities is providing hourly use data to customers who use the City’s electric, natural gas, and water services.
“Whether you want to see how you use utilities, review your usage history, and even find ways to save water and energy, you can use this new tool to take a closer look,” said Sioux Center Finance Director Darryl Ten Pas.
To see hourly use, customers can login through the municipal utilities’ online platform or use the Sioux Center App. If customers don’t have an online account yet, they can create one.
In their online account, customers will be able to see their hourly, daily, and monthly consumption (or use) for electricity, natural gas, and water. They can also see the estimated cost for that hour, day or month’s usage and the temperature or rainfall for that period.
This new service also allows customers to set text, email or phone call alerts for if there is a potential water leak at their property or if utility use exceeds a threshold they set while on a vacation.
“This is a great tool to get more information into our customers’ hands so they can better understand their utility use and cost,” Ten Pas said.
To login or create an online login, visit www.siouxcenter.com/account or click the “Pay a Bill” button on the City website. Customers can also find more information there on how to set up water leak alerts and a vacation threshold alert.
To view hourly use in the Sioux Center App, customers can download the app and open it, then tap “Your Utility Account.” They will be prompted to sign in with your login information - the same as their online account. Inside the “Your Utility Account,” tap “Usage” to see utility use. Before using this service in the app, customers need to create their online login at www.siouxcenter.org/account.
Customers who want help to learn about how to access this service can attend a free City Info session at the Sioux Center Public Library on Monday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. Bring a laptop computer or a cellphone along.
