Three new Sioux Center Police officers made their oath of office with Mayor David Krahling and the City Council this week.

With family and fellow officers witnessing the event, Ryan Laroco, Steve Topete, and James Van Veldhuizen swore to faithfully and impartially carry out their police duties to the best of their abilities.

These three have joined the Sioux Center Police Department in providing for public safety, by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting good community relations.

Laroco, Topete and Van Veldhuizen have begun serving the department. Laroco has finished his certification and Topete and Van Veldhuizen will be attending the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.

“Sioux Center has gained three professional men to serve as police officers,” Sioux Center Police Chief Josh Koedam said. “Their proactive approach for law enforcement coupled with their desire to protect the community makes them great additions to Sioux Center. I’m eager for the great things they will do.”
