With a sprinkle of pixie dust, you’ll find yourself in a magical adventure, complete with pirates, fairies, crocodiles, and – of course – flying! Peter Pan, the Musical, is soaring into Sioux Center this summer. Sioux Center Arts is bringing the Tony-award-winning Broadway musical to the Sioux Center stage for Summer Celebration June 1-3 as well as June 8-10.
The magic of Peter Pan begins when Peter and his mischievous fairy sidekick, Tinkerbell, visit the Darling children late one night and invite them on an unforgettable magical journey. The travelers come face to face with a ticking crocodile, a fierce warrior tribe, a band of pirates and the villainous Captain Hook. Based on J.M. Barrie's classic tale with an unforgettable score by Morris Charlap and Julie Styne and lyrics by Carolyn Leigh, Betty Comden, and Adolph Green, Peter Pan is one of the most beloved family favorites of all time.
“This 1954 musical holds a special place in the memories of many people who recall seeing the TV recording as a child. Bringing it to life on stage with dancing pirates, fierce warriors, charming Lost Boys, and flying children will also help a whole new audience appreciate the story and music. You will love it!” said Peter Pan director Dr. David Janssen, returning after directing last summer’s sold-out musical, Mary Poppins. “Come see your neighbors and friends show off their talent as they tell this timeless story!”
The cast of 28 features exceptional local talent, from youth to adults.
Performances are at Te Paske Theater in the Sioux Center Middle School:
- Thursday, June 1 at 6:00 p.m.

“We love that Peter Pan is for everyone – both young and old – a show to take the family to,” said Sioux Center Arts Director, Cailan Matthews. “Last year, our summer musical Mary Poppins was sold out, so we added two extra shows – seats for everyone this year!”
Sioux Center Arts is seeking people willing to serve as ushers and at the box office for the performances. Anyone interested can email Matthews at arts@siouxcenter.org.
