Add a spoonful of sugar to your Summer Celebration plans. Sioux Center Arts is bringing the musical Mary Poppins to the local stage June 2-5!
Come enjoy the family-friendly show based on the original books and featuring Mary Poppins musical favorites like “Chim Chim Cheree,” “Feed the Birds,” and “Spoonful of Sugar.” The light-hearted production is an endearing adventure with Mary Poppins as she helps mend a family back together. Featuring local talent, this production includes a cast of 32 actors of all ages and a pit orchestra.
“Enjoy watching your neighbors, family, and friends share the story – through music, acting, and dance – of a family coming together with the help some Mary Poppins magic,” said the musical’s director, David Janssen. “Audience members will relate to the themes of family quarrels, the struggle to get ahead, and feeling lonely sometimes. The real joy comes from watching the family members ‘find their way back home.’ Plus, it’s always more fun when British accents are involved!”
The show runs every day of Summer Celebration at the Te Paske Theatre in the Sioux Center Middle School. Showtimes include an earlier “Children’s Show” Thursday and Sunday matinee:
- Thursday, June 2 – 6 p.m.
- Friday, June 3 – 7 p.m.
- Saturday, June 4 – 7 p.m.
- Sunday, June 6 – 2 p.m.
Tickets $15 for adults and $5 for children and are available at the door and with online ticket sales. Using a computer rather than a mobile device allows for choosing specific seats online.
“Don’t miss this delightful show,” said Kaitlyn Baljeu, Sioux Center Arts Director. “It’s witty and charming and ‘practically perfect.’”
