Sioux Center Elects Council Members

Three adult faces

This month, Sioux Center residents voted in two new members and one returning councilman to the City Council: John Brantsen, Jenn Vermeer, and Randy Vreugdenhil. On behalf of the community, we want to thank these three for being willing to serve and lead our community, beginning four-year terms in January 2022.

The three shared their thoughts as they anticipate the beginning of this new council term:

“I am most looking forward to getting up to speed with the city government processes and current agenda items so I can be an engaged and effective member of the council as soon as possible. I am sure there will be a great deal to learn, and I am excited to get started.”
- Council member-elect John Brantsen

“I'm looking forward to being involved in our community’s future, building relationships and being a voice for my fellow citizens, and collaborating with the council and team at the city. There are so many exciting projects coming up, like the Heritage Village relocation and indoor turf facility and highway project, so I’m really looking forward to being involved in those.”
- Council member-elect Jenn Vermeer

“I want to thank the citizens for giving me the opportunity to serve for another four years. I want to thank Dale and Jamie for their years of service, and I'm excited to start working with Jenn and John.”
- Council member Randy Vreugdenhil, who will begin a sixth term, having served on the Sioux Center City Council for the past 20 years.
