Sioux Center is ready to kick off summer with a full weekend of activities for the 2021 Summer Celebration!
The fun kicks off Thursday, June 3, with a free Community Cookout from 5-7 p.m. at Central Park, and the first showing of the summer community theatre production.
The Johnny Holm Band is returning to Sioux Center for the free street dance on Friday, June 4, with local favorite The Ruralists also returning to the stage to open the night. Friday's fun also includes a free BMX show in the Centre Mall parking lot at 5 p.m. and Cruise Night from 6-8 p.m. along Highway 75, with food vendors and a dunk tank at the Centre Mall parking lot as well.
Saturday is packed with more great fun, starting with the Gear Up for Summer bike ride at 7 a.m., the pancake breakfast at 8 a.m., the Show & Shine car show and free Kids Karnival at Central Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., more free BMX shows and the new Fire & Smoke BBQ Challenge. The Summer Celebration parade begins at 5 p.m., the Glow Run kicks off at 9:30 p.m., and the Summer Celebration fireworks begin at 10 a.m., at a new location. People can park in the west lots of Mouw Motor and Ver Hoef Automotive and bring a lawn chair to enjoy the show on the east side of these businesses.
Sunday wraps up the weekend with a final showing of the Alice-in-Wonderland themed summer play, Lewis Carroll: Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast.
