Kaitlyn Baljeu has a passion for the arts and she’s bringing that to her work as Sioux Center’s new Arts Director.

“The arts offer an opportunity for people of different backgrounds to come together,” Baljeu said. “I’m looking forward to seeing that here and getting to know the community more.”

A 2020 graduate from Dordt University, Baljeu will organize Sioux Center Arts events, productions, and programs; provide educational arts opportunities; and collaborate other organizations to promote the arts.

The Kalamazoo, Mich. native earned degrees in theatre and graphic design from Dordt and has been helping with Sioux Center Arts for the past three years, collaborating on theatre productions and showcases.

“I really enjoyed that, and I am excited to take on a more robust role with Sioux Center Arts,” Baljeu said.

She is already at work preparing for the summer theatre production, Lewis Carroll: Six Impossible Things Before Breakfast, which follows the story of Alice in Wonderland. This production will take the stage during Summer Celebration, June

In Baljeu’s free time, she enjoys worshipping and being involved in theatre productions, painting, photography, and making digital art. Baljeu lives in Sioux Center.

The Sioux Center Arts office is inside the Children’s Park main shelter house. To learn more about Sioux Center Arts, visit the Sioux Center Arts page on Facebook and
