Agustin Martinez was officially sworn in as a police officer Tuesday before the Sioux Center City Council.
Martinez joined the Sioux Center Police Department as a full-time officer this summer and is in the training process. He will attend the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in the spring.
“Agustin is an impressive young man and we are excited to have him on staff,” said Police Chief Mike Halma. “He will be a great asset to our department and the community.”
Martinez also serves on the Sioux Center Fire Department and is a member of the Iowa National Guard. He grew up in Sioux Center, graduated from Sioux Center High School in 2009, and Western Iowa Tech in 2012. Martinez and his wife Elle have four children.
“I am excited to have this opportunity to work with the community more,” Martinez said.
