Sioux Center Municipal Utilities are marking 100 years of providing water service in Sioux Center, hosting a free Customer Appreciation BBQ on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 5-7 p.m.
All are invited to join in the celebration, which will include a free beef and pork burger meal, information booths about energy rebates and Sioux Center Trails, giveaways and more.
Along with celebrating hitting the century mark for water service, Sioux Center Municipal Utilities is also marking 70 years of being a community-owned electric utility and 65 years of being a community-owned natural gas utility.
“Our utilities are community-owned, and we don’t take for granted the opportunity to serve our people, so this is an opportunity to say thanks,” said Sioux Center Utility Manager Murray Hulstein. “With municipal utilities, we really have the unique ability to understand local needs and changes and to invest back in our community. A century of that is worth celebrating.”
The Customer Appreciation BBQ will be held in the city building north of the Sioux Center City Office. The street address of this building is 199 4th Street NW.
