A new code compliance official is working with residents to improve the safety and appearance of their properties in Sioux Center.

Jack Brundell began in this part-time role this spring, assisting the City of Sioux Center building department.

“Jack is already getting started, working with property owners on making some good changes. He will continue to add to the momentum we’ve seen in the community in the year we’ve had this position,” said City Building Official Josh Dorhout.

As code compliance official, Brundell directly contacts property owners and residents to help ensure they maintain their properties. Areas of focus will include weeds and lawn maintenance, proper storage of unused vehicles, and meeting other city ordinances.

Brundell is a familiar face in Sioux Center. He is a full-time police officer with the Sioux Center Police and has been a member of that department since 2017. He will continue to serve as a full-time police officer in addition to his work in code compliance.

“I am enjoying this new opportunity to work with people as they improve their properties here in Sioux Center,” Brundell said.
