Land Sale to Memory Care Facility Group Approved

Land sale request

The Sioux Center City Council approved the sale of a former parking area to a group which plans to build a memory care facility.

After a public hearing, the council approved the sale of the city-owned parcel west of 1st Avenue SW, just west of the former hospital site to Friendly Horizons LLC.

“They are considering building a memory care facility here in Sioux Center, about a 16-bed unit,” said Sioux Center Development Director Dennis Dokter.

The sale will be contingent on a development agreement between the city and the buyer that will include minimum valuation, design standards, and the right for the city to buy the land back if it were to be sold.

“The investment in our community by developers like this group continues to build on positive growth throughout Sioux Center,” Dokter said.
