Painting Work Begins on North Water Tower

Water tower

Sioux Center’s north water tower will receive a fresh paint job and interior cleaning.

"This is regular maintenance, extending the life of the tower, and it will make it look much better," said Sioux Center Water Department Head Harlan Kruid.

The planned color scheme will follow the tower's current look.

The project is beginning in early September. Plans call for it to be complete within 45 days.

During the project, the crew will install a containment curtain around the water tower to protect the surrounding area. The tower will be drained during part of the project.

"They're going to sandblast the outside of the tower and repaint the entire exterior," Kruid said. "They're also going to touch up the inside of the pedestal and clean inside the bowl of the tower at the top."
