The City Council is considering selling about 17 acres of land for a private townhome-style residential development.
A private developer, Vision Builders, would like to create a new residential area along 13th Ave. just south of Sioux Center Health, featuring townhome and condo-style living spaces. Plans call for around 80 residential units in the proposed area, which has been named Woodbridge. Some units will be part of 16-plex buildings, while others will be individual condos.
“We have big needs for housing in this community, and this fills a pretty specific niche with people who want to right-size their living space,” said Sioux Center Development Director Dennis Dokter. “This is going to add homes to the community, open up existing houses to be on the market, and draw people from outside our community. It will be a pretty unique and attractive addition.”
The council set a public hearing for 4 pm. Thursday, June 28, to consider the sale of property to Sioux Center Land Development, which will further develop the land and facilitate the sale to the private developer.
