The three days of festivities are packed with activities for all ages, and many are free!
This year the crowd-favorite Johnny Holm Band will be bringing the fun to downtown Sioux Center in a FREE outdoor concert Friday night. Music begins at 7 p.m. with local band The Ruralists. Johnny and his crew will take the stage at 9 p.m. A beverage garden opens at 7 p.m.
“We are excited to hold this year’s concert right in the heart of downtown Sioux Center. It will be within walking distance of the many other festivities happening that evening,” states Heather Rozeboom, Chamber Event Coordinator.
Firefighters from around the nation face off in the Firefighter Combat Challenge Friday and Saturday near Sioux Center’s Centre Mall, climbing five flights of stairs, hauling hoses and swinging sledgehammers in this race against the clock – while spectators cheer them on to the finish line.
Summer Celebration classics are back, including Thursday’s free Community Cook-Out, Friday’s Cruise Night along Highway 75, Saturday’s free Kids Karnival and the car show at Central Park, plus the Summer Celebration parade. A fireworks show Saturday night will cap the weekend of fun.
Great food is always a highlight of Summer Celebration. Food vendors will be set up downtown Friday and Saturday and in Central Park on Saturday for delicious eats like funnel cakes, steak sandwiches, brats, Mexican tacos and corn, desserts and more.
Sioux Center Chamber Director Barb Den Herder invited all to come enjoy the festivities.
“Our local business community is incredibly generous in their financial support of this event, so we are blessed that we can offer most of the events free for families to enjoy. We are also grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who willingly serve throughout the weekend. We couldn’t do it without them!” Den Herder says.
