Students Team Up with City for Cleanup Day

Cleanup day paint fire hydrants

The City of Sioux Center staff teamed up with 275 Sioux Center Community School high school students to spruce up Sioux Center on Thursday, May 24.

The students worked with city staff from all departments on more than 15 projects throughout the community for the annual Cleanup Day.

The crews painted fire hydrants and light poles, picked up litter, prepared parks for summer, cleaned flower beds, cleaned up the fairgrounds, helped at residents’ homes, assisted with the mountain bike trail at Oak Grove, and more.

“It is our privilege to partner with Sioux Center Community High School and serve the community on Cleanup Day,” said Josh Dorhout, city code enforcement officer, who organized the event. “The students worked hard and really made a difference around Sioux Center.”

Cleanup Day is an annual joint effort by Sioux Center Community High School and the City of Sioux Center staff.
