Local Organizations' Funding Requests Approved

The Sioux Center City Council approved several funding requests from community organizations at last week’s council meeting.

The council voted to fund a $5,000 request from Mid-Sioux Opportunity. The city has contributed $5,000 each year for the past 15 years to the local organization.

The council approved a $1,500 request from Sioux Center Health Foundation, which provides funding to help improve hospital services.

The council also voted to give a $1,000 gift to Atlas to help cover the costs in providing services to more than 300 families.

The council approved a $1,000 gift for the Center for Financial Education to help with ongoing expenses.

The council agreed to give $500 to Habitat for Humanity to help with ongoing expenses as the organization establishes a house in Sioux Center.

“These gifts are small ways we can play a part in the greater good these organizations are bringing to our community,” said Sioux Center Mayor Dennis Walstra.
