The financing for the community’s new wastewater treatment plant has been approved.
This week, the Sioux Center City Council approved the final steps for financing the construction of the new wastewater plant, which is being built to meet new, more stringent DNR standards and replace the community’s aging facility.
Construction is set to begin in the spring of 2018 on the new wastewater facility, which will be built adjacent to the existing plant at the southeast edge of Sioux Center, near the intersection of 13th Avenue and 20th Street SE.
“This is a major project for our community, and as we move from the planning stages toward construction, our focus continues to center on building a stewardly plant that will serve Sioux Center for generations,” said Sioux Center Utility Manager Murray Hulstein.
Plans call for the new wastewater treatment plant to be operational by early-2020.
The City of Sioux Center’s sanitary sewer system collects and treats wastewater produced by more than 2,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers.
