Casey's General Store in Sioux Center. It is maintained by the Sioux
Center Heritage Board and Threshers Association and open by appointment
for tours and during the Sioux County Fair. Heritage Village includes
the following historical buildings and attractions.
1. School House: Capel #5, the
center school of the township, was built the summer of 1928 and was used
as a school until 1959.
2. Church: Replica of the original
church built in Sioux Center in 1877.
3. Doc's Cafe: One of the oldest
buildings in Sioux Center, some say it was moved from the "old town".
4. Gas Station: Originally located
in Paullina, Iowa. It was donated and moved in 1990.
5. Blacksmith Shop: The Brock
brothers used this building for their blacksmith shop in Ireton until
the late 1980's.
6. Sod House: Early Settlers used
sod huts as their first homes in the 1870's. This one was built by
Cadets in 1991.
7. Garden: Each year the Sioux
County Master Gardeners grow vegetables, herbs and flowers in this plot
and throughout the village.
8. Windmill: Was donated by Ralph
Vander Berg.

by FFA students in 1990.
10. House Circa 1900: One of the
first houses built in town.
11. Orchard: A number of fruit trees
have been planted to represent the self sufficiency of the pioneers.
There is also a "tree walk" on the grounds with over 30 varieties
of trees. A map of the tree walk completed by the Boy Scouts can be
found at the school or the city office.

the Centennial as an information booth. Later it found a permanent home
in the village. It was donated by Charles Klein.

is a reconstruction of a "Peg Barn". The main timbers were salvaged from
a barn near Rock Valley.
