Aquatic Center Design Moves Foreward

Construction could begin this summer on the expanded outdoor aquatic center in Sioux Center, which will offer water play features like a lazy river, a variety of water slides, a climbing wall and a zip line.

At this week’s Sioux Center City Council meeting, City Manager Scott Wynja shared about design progress for the aquatic center which will be constructed along the west side of the existing All Seasons Center.

“Over the last couple of months, city staff, along with engineers, have been finalizing details for the outdoor aquatic center expansion,” Wynja said. “We are excited about the features and unique attractions that will be included as part of this project and hopefully provide a ‘wow’ to our community and surrounding areas.”

The current design for outdoor aquatic center features several water play areas including the lazy river area, a slide area and a larger pool area with the climbing wall, zip line, and lanes that can be designated for lap swimming.

After the design is finalized, the project will be put out to bid for construction. The anticipated opening for the expanded outdoor aquatic center is in the summer of 2019.
