Plans for expanding Sioux Center’s outdoor aquatic center are moving from the dream stage to final design.
The Sioux Center City Council approved an agreement with Waters Edge Aquatic Design to proceed with final design of the expansion, which will add new outdoor features at the All Seasons Center including a lazy river, diving boards and a variety of water slides.
City Manager Scott Wynja noted the city is planning to pay for this project through existing fund sources – Tax Increment Financing, Local Option Sales Tax, and cash reserves – rather than needing to ask more from property taxes.
“Considering where we are now and keeping in mind future projects, we are in a good financial position to proceed with this project,” Wynja said.
With final design work set to begin, the city is anticipating construction on the project will start this coming spring with a potential opening date in summer of 2019.
“We are looking forward to having people of all ages come enjoy these aquatic recreation additions. This project is all about adding to the great quality of life options in Sioux Center and supporting our growing community,” Wynja said.
