School Year Recreation Activities

Basketball Tournament - Boys 
The Recreation Department and the Kiwanis team up to put on a boys twenty four team tournament for 6th, 7th and 8th graders. The event is held February 24 & 25. Register HERE

Basketball Program - Boys
A 4 week basketball program for 3rd and 4th grade boys held at Dordt College. Registration form available HERE.

Gymnastics 
As a USA Gymnastics affiliated program there is something to offer children as young as 4 years old or provide training for athletes looking to compete on a state, regional, or national level. More info 

Punt, Pass & Run Contest
Contest held at the football field in mid-September for 7-12 year old boys and girls. Participants compete in three different events. Ribbons are awarded to all participants and medals to the top three finishers in each age division. Punt, Pass & Run Form. Please return to the ASC by September 12. Punt, Pass & Run will be held Thursday, September 15th at 7:00pm. 

Riptide Wrestling
The Riptide Wrestling gives youth in the community the opportunity to participate in an organized and competitive sport. More info

Soccer - Boys & Girls 
This six week program begins mid April-late May. Kindergarten through 6th grade boys and girls are encouraged to register. Skills are taught and games are played twice a week.

Swim Lessons for Children age 2-6 years
Offered for 2-6 year olds at the All Seasons Center. Please call the All Seasons Center (712) 722-4386 for more information and to register your child. Register Online

Titans Youth Football
The Sioux Center Titans Youth Football is for all Sioux Center students in 3rd through 6th grade.  This program provides kids with an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of tackle football, including football skills, plays, and teamwork.  The teams are formed according to grade level; 3rd/4th graders play together and 5th/ 6th graders play together.  The Titans are a part of a small league, so they play teams from other towns including Akron, Orange City, West Sioux, and LeMars Gehlen.  Any questions about this program can be directed to Dan Bruhn at 712-722-1737 or on Facebook.


Volleyball 5th & 6th Grade Girls 
Clinic and league are held at the First Reformed Church gym on Wednesdays after school mid September-October. This is a six week program designed to teach fundamental volleyball skills and play in league games.
Volleyball Registration Form please return to the ASC by September 9th. The season will kick off on September 16th.

100 Mile Club
Be active and cover 100 miles in three months this summer.  Track your miles by jogging 1 mile=1 mile, walking 2 miles=1 mile, biking 4 miles=1 mile or swimming 1/4 mile=1 mile.  Turn in your log sheet with $10 to Dave at the All Seasons Center and receive a 100 mile club t-shirt.  Pick up your 100 mile club log sheet at the All Seasons Center or print off a copy here.  

K-BALL 
This five-week program is for boys and girls just completing Kindergarten. Games will be played between 5:15 pm and 9:00 pm on Monday and Wednesday evenings at Tower Fields beginning May 31 through June 28. Schedules will be handed out in the schools. Cost is $15.00 which includes a t-shirt. Volunteer parent coaches are needed for this program. Your help would be appreciated.  
K-Ball schedule and pizza party schedule 

1st & 2nd Grade Boys Baseball
This five week program is for boys who have completed 1st or 2nd grade. Archery
Introduction to archery class for 5th-12th grade boys and girls at Sandy Hollow. Equipment is generously provided by Sioux County Conservation Board.  Cost is $25.00 which includes a t-shirt.  

Arts and Theatre Arts

Challenger British Soccer Camp
Soccer camp held in June sponsored by the Sioux Center Recreation Department. Register Here by June 2 to receive a free replica jersey. 

Cheerleading Camp
Cheerleading camp for children who have completed Kindergarten-6th grade held at the All Seasons Center. Cost is $20.00 which includes a t-shirt.

Fishing
Introduction to fishing for boys and girls 1st-8th grade on one night from 6:30-8:30 pm; choosing July 19, 26 or August 2.  1st-4th grade participants must be accompanied by an adult.  Each class is limited to 12 participants.  Bring your own pole or we can provide one. Cost is $5.00.

Frisbee Golf
A program for 4th-6th graders to learn the basic flag techniques and a routine to perform on the last day of class. The program will be held at the All Seasons Center from June 19 - 23 from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Cost is $20 and includes t-shirt. 

Frisbee Golf
Joint his introduction to Frisbee golf class for 4th-8th grade boys and girls at Children's Park from 1:00-3:00 pm on Mondays.  Program runs from July 10-August 7 and will be focusing on techniques, rules and game playing. Cost is $20.00 which includes a disc.

Kickball
Program for boys and girls who have completed 4th-6th grade.  Games are played on Wednesday afternoons between 1:00-2:30 pm at the Recreation State ball fields July 12-August 9.  Cost is $15.00 which includes a t-shirt.
  
Let's GO 5-2-1-0
Let's Go 5-2-1-0 is a free summer activity tracking program open to K-5th grade.  Track your daily healthy habits and be eligible for prizes.  Eat healthy, watch less, and play more.  Sponsored by the Coalition for a Healthy Sioux Center.  Check out "Let's Go Sioux County" on Facebook.  

Live Healthy Iowa Kids Track Meet (formerly Hershey's Track Meet)
A one day event held in early May for boys and girls ages 7-14 (as of Dec. 31 of the current year).  This event is free and is held at the Open Space Park Track.  Each child is eligible to participate in 3 events plus the 4x100 relay.  2016 Results

Nature Days
Discovering nature around you for Kindergarten – 1st grade held on Tuesday, June 27 from 1:00-3:00 pm. Discovering Sandy Hollow for 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades to be held Wednesday, June 28 from 1:00-3:00 pm. Program led by Sunday Ford, Sioux County Conservation Assistant Director/Naturalist. Cost is $12.00 which includes a t-shirt.

Outdoor Adventure
A program for 4th - 6th graders to explore the outdoors. Participants will be involved in a variety of outdoor activities including: bike and kite, canoeing, obstacle courses, survival skills, and more! This 4 session program will be held on Thursdays from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm July 6 - 27. Cost: $20 which includes t-shirt. 

Pickleball
This 2 week program is for 3rd - 8th grade boys and girls. Classes will  meet from 9:30-10:30 am. Classes will meet at the All Seasons Center July 10-14 and July 17-21. Rackets will be provided. Class size limited to 16. Cost: $10.
 
Summer Swim Lessons
Red Cross swimming lessons will be held for children who have at minimum completed Kindergarten. All sessions are held at the All Seasons Center. Watch the Sioux Center News for lesson schedules. If a child misses more than two classes they will be disqualified from passing that level. 
  
Tennis Lessons

This two week summer program is for 3rd-8th grade boys and girls, beginner and intermediate classes at the Open Space tennis courts. Participants must supply their own rackets. Tennis balls will be provided. Instructor is Lavonne Bolkema (712) 722-2843. Class size is limited to eight in each group. Register by calling Dave Ruter (712) 722-4386 ext. 3 or register online. Beginner's classes will be held June 12-16 & 19-23 at 8:30 am and 9:30 am. Intermediate will be at 10:30 am.
 
Try-athlon
Give It a TRY-athlon is a one day event for children 5-13 years of age.  Event is held on a Saturday August 5 at 9:30 am.  5-7 year olds will swim 25 yards (life jackets will be allowed for this age bracket), bike 500 meters and run 100 meters. 8-10 year olds will swim 50 yards, bike 1.25 miles and run 1 lap around the track.  11-13 year olds will swim 100 yards, bike 2.5 miles and run 2 laps around the track.  Participants must provide their own bike, helmet and running shoes. Parent volunteers are encouraged for this program.  Cost is $10.00 which includes a t-shirt, snack and water.
